Memorial Day is typically celebrated with a picnic or barbecue surrounded by family and friends to honor those that we’ve lost serving our country. Although restrictions are being lifted and masks are not being required everywhere, there is still the discomfort of getting together for some. We’ve crafted some ways that you can still participate in the celebration of Memorial Day, but at a virtual stance.
1. Send a Care Package
Sending a care package is a great way to lift the spirit of those that cannot be home to celebrate Memorial Day with their families. If you are considering sending a care package there are organizations such as Support Our Troops that have created lists of things service people need while deployed.
In addition to those lists, you can also send a Skyroam Solis Hotspot (if necessary and allowed) to keep them connected overseas. This is a great tool to provide service members with a means of staying connected with family and friends in places where they are experiencing little to no service without the need for SIM cards. Skyroam Solis X and Lite devices allow up to 10 devices to be connected at one time so they are able to have their battle buddies connected to the hotspot too!
2. Take a Virtual Tour of the White House
Travel to your computer and take a virtual tour of the White House from the comfort of your own home. This immersive experience by The White House Historical Association allows you to take a tour of the White House (access to all rooms) with historic facts included! You’re able to view and examine things more closely than you would during a regular visit. You can even Zoom with family and friends and take the tour together!
3. Watch the Memorial Day Concert
Each year, PBS, one of the highest-rated programs hosts a Memorial Day Concert (streamed live). You can view this with family and friends or even host a Zoom party to watch the live stream together. The concert airs Sunday, May 30, 2021 and features performances, tributes, and more!
Whether you’re barbecuing with loved ones, hitting the beach for a dose of Vitamin D, or staying indoors for a quiet weekend at home; there are plenty of ways to celebrate Memorial Day. This weekend, we honor those who have sacrificed their lives to serve our country, and those who have done so for generations around the world. Let us know how you’ve decided to participate in Memorial Day on our Instagram underneath our Memorial Day post. We’d be happy to hear!
